Champlain College Saint-Lambert requires the services of a DATA PROCESSING TECHNICIAN, PRINCIPAL CLASS to work on a regular full-time position in the Information Technology department.
- Reporting to the Coordinator of Information Technology, the Data Processing Technician, Principal Class (SkyTech and Web) will carry out tasks related to the operation of networks, computers and peripherals and will function as the primary security liaison for the College. This person will help to coordinate the activities of various technicians within the team as required.
- **MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Software and hardware management- Provide Moodle support to teachers by maintaining the backend architecture and providing front-end support
- Provide support on all SkyTech software, including Clara, OmniVox, Lea, etc and be knowledgeable in the benefit of specific modules to departments within the College
- Explore and test new technologies, evaluate their compatibility and see to implementing appropriate modifications
- Provide technical help and create documents for staff as well as for faculty, and students in order to answer their pedagogical needs
- Create, maintain and deliver reports, such as Microsoft BI reporting to support our clients
- Perform troubleshooting on all information systems as problems arise and provide accurate and timely status reports
- Respond to queries pertaining to the use of software and provide software guidance to staff and faculty
- Manage the OmniVox communities and publishing of content to those communities to support the operations of the College and the support of the user community
- Provide website support to faculty and staff to ensure that our 3rd party websites are secure and deal with any security risks and reporting in a timely manner
- Perform web master functions, as required, to support the Champlain website by publishing pre-approved content to the site and ensuring that any potential security risks are dealt with quickly and efficiently, including reporting that may be required
- Assist in the configuring and updating software and hardware, including in classrooms and labs, as required
- Ensure the proper functioning of servers and solve problems that may arise, by leveraging the knowledge of colleagues, peers and external technicians, as required
Network management- Oversee privileged access management
- Oversee the installation, configuration and updating of the network components to comply with security requirements, as required
- Prepare and maintain the schedule of software installation, license maintenance and currency for the labs and classrooms and ensure it is respected, as required
- Provide leadership to technicians as required and as requested. This can include technical oversight, coaching, mentoring and managing of technicians’ accountabilities
- Lead in the generation of the Service Catalogue that will be offered to members of the College
- Identify when equipment requires replacement and assist in the planning and ordering process for replacements and cascading
- Identify when equipment is broken and repair or upgrade it as necessary &/or oversee the work of technicians
- Oversee in developing and documenting data saving and data safety and data security procedures and ensure their implementation, including Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP), Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Business Resumption Planning (BRP)
- Monitor security risks relating to the inventory of computer equipment and devise plans to mitigate risk
- Provide appropriate feedback to clients
- Ensure the proper functioning and monitoring of networks and operating systems, as required
Other- Coordinate activities related to solving Technical problems
- Ensure the planning, configuration and management of College technology
- Coordinate the work of support personnel involved in technical operations or programs for which he is responsible and to train them
- Act as a guide/coach to Data Processing technicians
- Oversee the creation of Audio & Video content
- Provide support in the preparation of documentation for programs such as procedures manuals, standards and operating manuals
- Participate and/or lead initiatives as required for the College
**Requirements**:
Education
Must have diploma of college studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty such as a Technical DEC, Computer Science, Network and Security Management or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
Experience
Must have at least four (4) years of experience as a Data Processing Technician or in a similar position
Assets
Working knowledge of SkyTech software, including OmniVox.
Experience in Website managements and support including security reviews and remediation
Experience in operating a computer network in a College-level environment;
SCCM Software and Macintosh troubleshooting skills;
