Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Director, Administration contributes to the AC’s overall vision, goals and mission by overseeing and executing all aspects of complex research program operations, data stewardship, procurement process, as well as full managerial authority of staff in a unionized environment.

The incumbent ensures smooth operations of the program, including management of staff, oversight of award programs and faculty search administration, financial and non-financial reporting and management of the financial administration for the unit including preparing financial plans and forecasting. In addition, the Director collaborates on presentations to the Executive Committee and Executive Leadership Team, and liaises with University partners including the Research Services Office.

The Director, Administration will provide strategic guidance and support to complex, multi-faceted research and operations projects as they are under development, as well as identifying challenges that ongoing projects face and other barriers to success and developing solutions to those problems.

**Required Qualifications**:
**EDUCATION**:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

**EXPERIENCE**:
At least 6-7 years of relevant experience in project management, research management and operations in a large research University or equivalent setting.

Experience with management and supervision in a unionized environment.

**SKILLS**

Superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Proven project management skills include the ability to set priorities, leverage limited resources, meet deadlines, liaise with multiple stakeholders, solve problems, resolve disputes and develop processes and policy for managing complex program operations.

Strong organizational skills and ability to exercise initiative.

Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Excellent research and grant writing skills.

Excellent ability to manage complex budgets, and grants.

**OTHER**:
High degree of collegiality, management experience and ability to work independently, as a team member and across divisions, institutions, etc.

Proven ability to multi-task and source accurate information quickly.

Require tact, discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to exercise judgement and independent decision-making.

Ability to assimilate and interpret significant amounts of information.

Ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities.

Familiarity with the university and research environment is essential.
