Pharmacy Informatics Specialist

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Shares and fulfills the following key roles and responsibilities in collaboration with other Pharmacy and Clinical Informatics Specialists:
- liaison between health care clinicians/ leaders, information technology professionals and informatics team members/ leaders
- active engagement in the planning, development, implementation, maintenance and support of patient care technology systems, and serving as a liaison between clinical practice/ practitioners and technology/ systems professionals.
**Responsibilities of the Pharmacy Informatics Specialist**:
- Focuses on medication-related data and knowledge (including its acquisition, storage, analysis, use and dissemination) in the delivery of optimal medication-related patient care and health outcomes.
- Collaborates to assess and recommend workflow (re)design that incorporate /leverage technology to enhance or enable best practice and achievement of optimal patient outcomes, with emphasis on medication therapy related outcomes.
- Collaborates to explore options for creative problem resolution; makes recommendations for resolution and participates in executing resolution plan if applicable. This includes problems triaged from the Help Desk, as well as other sources.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Registration as a pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy degree (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a clinician performing medication management.
- Experience as a clinical pharmacist in a teaching hospital setting is highly preferred.
- 3-5 years experience with relevant medication/information management systems (as a clinician user).
- 2 or more years relevant technical experience with relevant medication/information management systems (eg as a developer, and/or content specialist and/ or informatics specialist).
- Advance degree in Health Informatics is a n asset.
- Commitment to student and patient teaching, experience preferred.

- Excellent critical analysis, creative problem solving and decision making skills, and ability to meet deadlines and achieve deliverables
- Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills, and client service orientation.
