Shipper and Receiver Team Lead

We are looking for a full-time Shipper and Receiver Team Lead to join our team at GWB for the day shift (Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm).

Job Summary:
The Shipping Team Lead leads the shipping/receiving team members during various shifts with receiving and put away of ingredients and packaging, organizing the warehouse floor space for optimal product flow through, ensuring the production team has sufficient trays/pallets/materials to run continuously and complete outbound loads. Effective communication essential in hand off from shift to shift, working with different shifts teams and partnering with Warehouse Supervisor to complete the tasks assigned as needed to support a food production facility that runs 24 hours, 7 days per week.

Essential functions:

- Must be able to complete the standard shipping/receiving responsibilities including:

- Properly completing outbound trailer inspection, load balance and securing load to minimize transport damages for all outbound shipments
- Work with production line with retrieving packaging and raw materials to ensure mínimal to no disruptions to the production run
- Restocking the bins for packaging and raw materials
- Receiving goods from suppliers for all departments with proper documentation, labelling, inspection upon arrival and put away procedures
- Moving and unloading of shipping materials such as pallets and trays
- Moving finished goods from end of production line to assigned locations (bins, cool room, freezer, staging area)
- Assist with daily inventory count and details of raw materials, packaging, bins, pallets, trailers and finished goods as needed
- Work with Warehouse Supervisor to ensure seamless hand off between shifts to ensure no duties are missed for continuous, efficient work flow
- Report on any non-compliance incidents, training and resource requirements as needed to support successful functioning of the team and the plant in adherence to all food handling & safety standards
- Provide continuous improvement insight, development and implementation on material movement, storage, and up to date training and mentoring for the shipping/receiving team members
- Daily check on all finished goods (FGS & MBS) are put away in a timely manner to uphold quality of product;
- Check SAP to validate scanning is completed accurately to reflect proper placement of ingredients, packaging, finished goods and vice versa (items are put away and scanned into bin location immediately)
- Work with supply chain team on monitoring and communicating shelf life, FEFO, FIFO of raw materials and finished goods issues with the supply chain team to maintain best practices and mitigate any non-compliance activity
- Participate and support facility and supply chain audits for industry and corporate standards
- Engage in developing and implementing best practices at Golden West
- Provide insight of team and individual team members on overall team and individual performance, disciplinary & development opportunities

Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to use computer and job related software (i.e. MS Office, SAP) as well as various office equipment as needed to perform job functions
- Forklift certificate and/or experience is an asset.
- At least 3 to 5 years in shipping & receiving

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

- Able to work in fast paced, high pressure environment
- Proficient to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word
- A quick learner, resourceful team player with excellent interpersonal & communication skills
- Proactive, detail oriented & organized individual who is eager to develop improvements to existing processes with hands on learning of the overall production & warehousing process
- Be able to be flexible with schedule with possible overtime (paid) as needed to support the facility and the team;
- Able to physically lift 40kg weight consistently
- Able to work in -25C environment and warm environment (uniform, safety and work attire provided by employer)
- Work involves light exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and/or noise.
- Work environment involves light exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.
- Personal protective equipment, as defined by C.H. Guenther and Son, will be provided
