**Mission**
Under the responsibility of the Project Controls Manager, you will be part of a team of 3 to 4 cost controllers, to participate in the cost reviews and analysis, covering one or two disciplines.
The project includes the design and construction of a major LRT 14 km infrastructure in Edmonton, Alberta..
**Main Responsibilities**
- Role and organization
- The Cost Controller is part of the Project Controls department responsible to provide the Project Senior Management Team accurate information about the cost situation to date for each activity and the estimate at completion.
- Duties include the following
- Animating the cost controls day-to-day with the operations teams, and will coordinate as needed with the procurement & subcontracts team, the scheduling team, and the accounting team.
- Include the Risk assessment in their review of each discipline.
**Responsibilities**
- Ensure that all required cost controls processes and procedures are implemented on the project and coordinate with the project teams to ensure they are understood and applied;
- Build in cooperation with the project managers the work breakdown structures of the disciplines, that will be used for cost control, and ensure that it is consistent with the organization on the project, the IT tools, the contract with the client, the documentation management and the schedule;
- Participate actively in coordinating the build-up of the baseline budget and its revisions along the duration of the Project (in depth exercise undertaken at least for the Initial Target budget, and the revisions at 20% / 50% / 80% of progress)
- Collect all necessary information for monthly cost reporting (progress, actual costs, commitments, risk assessment), meeting qualitative requirements and in a timely manner.
- Produce cost reports to highlight comparisons between actual costs, earned values, planned values;
- Support the project teams in the analysis of the trends and variances to date, and in the forecast at completion.
- Participate in producing monthly project controls report for Project Management.
- Contribute to providing Lessons Learnt.
**Profile**
- Education or experience in either economics / finance / accounting or in construction management.- Minimum 5 years experience in cost controls and reporting.
- Familiarity with an ERP environment (JD Edwards, SAP )
- Competence in Excel and data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills across all manners and platforms.
**Skills**
- Rigorous, analytical, process oriented.
- Comfortable working as a team and on a multi-cultural project, communicating easily with all project members on site, in office and with management.
- Efficient working under strict deadlines.
- Willing to understand construction activities, how they are organized and monitored.
