The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology is the largest basic medical science department within the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. **Responsibilities**:
The Technical/Research Support II will work under the direction of the Research Associate and the Principal Investigator to analyse cognitive testing data collected for an online study of human cognition. The incumbent will undertake exploratory data analyses of the repeated-measures dataset to identify markers of cognitive performance that are associated with symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The incumbent will also manage and maintain a repository of the dataset and their analysis, so that the work can be easily shared with, and re-created by, other researchers in the lab.
- Qualifications
**Education**:
- Undergraduate Degree in psychology, neuroscience, or a relevant field; MSc in a relevant field preferred
**Experience**:
- 2 years' work experience supporting research in a related technical field
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Demonstrable expertise (e.g., university courses, or bootcamp certification) in: Python and common machine learning packages (e.g., SciKit-Learn) or R equivalents, database programming (MySQL), data visualisation, and common software developer tools (Git, Bash)
- Proficiency in scientific writing (e.g., co
- or first-authored publication)
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve research milestones
- Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document technical information
- Attention to detail with an ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of data, while ensuring that information is accurate and comprehensive
- Ability to follow processes with high attention to detail
- Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, to work independently and follow through on work assignments
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, and students
- Ability to collect and analyze data in an objective manner
- Multi-tasking skills to prioritize and consistently produce high-quality work within deadlines
- Ability to investigate defined issues, solicit input, and suggest remedies and alternative approaches that meet the needs of the situation
