Our faculty are the recipients of many teaching and research awards. We are home to a vibrant and dynamic department with much to offer to undergraduate students, graduate students and visitors. **Responsibilities**: Camp counsellors will be responsible for helping prepare for the Summer Day camp sessions. Planning and preparation takes place in June. The camp will consist of lessons on computer science, swimming and outside time. Hours of camp are from 9 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday in July and August with a before and after program from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. Shift times may vary from day to day. The curriculum that will be taught includes graphics design, game development, computer programming, simple artifical intelligence and lego robotics. Counsellors need to have a good grasp on various aspects of Computer Science. This will be a very rewarding experience. Applicants must be hard working, energetic, outgoing, creative and must love working with children. Campers range in age from 9 to 13. **Qualifications**: **Education**: - Must be a student returning to studies in the fall **Experience**: - Prior experience working with children ideally in a camp setting preferred - Successfully completed COMPSCI 1026 and 1027 is preferred **Skills, Abilities & Expertise**: - Written and verbal communication skills to express ideas clearly, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience - Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation - Reliable and dependable with the ability to consistently work assigned schedule - Ability to follow detailed and/or complex processes and practices with high attention to detail - Demonstrates integrity and works in accordance with Western's policies and procedures - Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized work environment - Computer skills with knowledge of HTML, CSS, graphics design software such as GIMP/Affinity/Photoshop, Minecraft and the ability to program/write code and ability to learn and use new software programs as required - Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public - Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve camp goals - Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements as applicable - Some languages and tools, and hands-on experience/knowledge used in camp include Python, photoshop, Scratch, Game development, Minecraft, Lego NXT Why Western?
