**Job Title**: Maintenance Lead Hand
**Role Summary**:
The Maintenance Lead Hand plays a key leadership role in overseeing day-to-day maintenance operations in a high-volume meat processing facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager, the Lead Hand coordinates work assignments, supports troubleshooting efforts, and ensures all maintenance activities are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with food safety and regulatory standards.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assist in planning, prioritizing, and assigning daily tasks to maintenance team members, including mechanical, electrical, and sanitation-related repairs.
- Act as the first point of contact for on-shift troubleshooting, decision-making, and technical support for both production and maintenance teams.
- Perform hands-on maintenance tasks, including emergency repairs, equipment adjustments, and preventive maintenance as required.
- Support equipment start-ups, changeovers, and shutdowns to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Coordinate with Production, Sanitation, and QA to schedule maintenance work with mínimal disruption to operations.
- Promote skill development and adherence to safety/food safety standards.
- Monitor spare parts inventory usage and flag reordering needs.
- Enforce and model safe work practices, including proper lockout/tagout procedures and PPE compliance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues and proposing long-term solutions.
- Assist in audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities.

**Qualifications**:

- Maintenance experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment (meat processing preferred).
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience in a leadership or lead hand role is preferred.
- Strong understanding of HACCP, GMP, WHMIS, and workplace safety requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Able to work in cold, wet, and high-noise environments typical of meat processing plants.
- Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working on feet for extended periods.
- Trade certification (Millwright, Electrician, etc.) is a strong asset but not required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime if needed.
