Maintenance Technician

Reporting to the Production Manager, the **Maintenance Technician** will contribute to our safety first production operations by regularly inspecting, repairing, modifying and maintaining equipment and machinery as required to minimize downtime, and to further advance our continuous improvement as World Class Manufacturing (WCM) standards and lean manufacturing initiatives.

In addition to the above, the Maintenance Technician shall provide dedicated support to all safety initiatives and assures the manufacturing equipment is maintained to meet final production quality specifications as set forth by CertainTeed Canada, Inc. (Saint-Gobain)

**DUTIES**:

- Ensure safe work practices are adhered to at all times
- Perform equipment preventive and reactive maintenance activities
- Perform equipment calibrations to specification ranges
- After hours “on call” for plant equipment breakdowns
- Perform daily maintenance checks on all plant production equipment
- Develop and perform weekly, monthly, and annual Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules.
- Overall building maintenance:

- Purchased parts in accordance to Company MRO guidelines as provided by Corporate Supply Chain
- Compliance with Corporate PICS program for contractors
- Issue of “Safe Work” & “HOT WORK” permits and job specific hazard assessments for work performed on the site (Mechanical & Electrical - including contractors).
- Manage the maintenance parts inventory:

- Generation of Purchasing Requisitions for maintenance parts and shop supplies, lab supplies, production supplies and plant safety supplies.
- Generation of expense reports for Purchasing Card Transactions and expense reports for mileage incurred in the process of conducting Company business.
- Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or his/her designate.
- Manage Maintenance Spare Parts Inventory
- Generation of Purchasing Requisitions
- Purchasing Card Transactions
- Compiling Expense Reports

**OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Provide operational support on the production line in the event of labour shortage due to absenteeism or when running small pails. The aforementioned duties shall be as directed by the Quality/Customer Service Coordinator or Plant Manager. Membership and active participation on the Health and Safety Committee. Perform safety and environmental audits monthly. Assist in the inventory cycle counting process and any other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or his/her designate
**IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?** REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Red Seal Mechanic or Red Seal Electrician
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial maintenance position
- WCM or Lean Manufacturing Training or Certification including knowledge of 5S principles

**Additional Requirements**:

- MS office computer literacy
- SAP software use
- SAP software experience
- PLC programming/troubleshooting experience

**TO MAKE SURE NOTHING IS FORGOTTEN** WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Dayshift position, Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
- Lunch and coffee breaks shall be aligned with production personnel.
- Indoor and outdoor working requirements.
- On-call for emergency work and/or machine breakdown. Company cell phone will be provided.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**:

- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lb containers.
- Work in outside ambient conditions of extreme cold in the winter.
