The Canadian Hub for Applied and Social Research (CHASR) is a unique university-based research support and consulting service. Operating on a cost-recovery basis, CHASR regularly engages and supports academic-based researchers from a variety of disciplines, backgrounds, and institutions, government (federal, provincial, and municipal) and NGO clients, and private sector firms. With a broad range of experience, expertise, and tools at our disposal, CHASR supports a diverse array of applied and social research. We support all phases of research, including data collection, data processing, data analysis, and reporting. Our in-house supports and tools enable us to lend unique and innovative approaches to all CHASR-supported research.
**Primary Purpose**: To assist in the delivery of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research support services across the Canadian Hub for Applied and Social Research (CHASR). Acting as an assistant project manager, the Assistant Mixed Methods Research Manager serves as a resource to the Mixed Methods Research Manager and Specialist in support of new and ongoing research studies that utilize mixed (quantitative and/or qualitative) research approaches. The Assistant Mixed Methods Research Manager conducts and provides support with quantitative/qualitative data collection, analysis/interpretation, transcription support, and reporting activities. The Assistant Manager also provides support overseeing the day-to-day operations and administration related to mixed analyses and reporting services within CHASR, including project tracking and administration.
**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Mixed Methods Research Manager and Specialist at CHASR, the Assistant Mixed Methods Research Manager supports research projects with quantitative/qualitative/mixed approaches across the unit. The Assistant Manager works both independently and in a team environment with researchers from a broad array of disciplines, providing expertise and specialized support to ensure that quantitative/qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting needs are addressed. It requires the establishment and maintenance of effective working relationships and collaborations with faculty and external partners in an environment of continuous change. The Assistant Mixed Methods Research Manager regularly works with managers and research staff across CHASR to ensure the unit remains a valuable resource for researchers at the University of Saskatchewan and beyond. The Assistant Manager must exhibit time and organizational skills and superior project management skills. The position may, on occasion, require long and/or irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:
- Supports the delivery of quantitative/qualitative research support services provided by CHASR, which include mixed research design, quantitative/qualitative data collection (i.e., surveys, focus groups, key informant interviews, ethnographic research, literature reviews), analysis, and reporting, among others.
- Assists in managing and coordinating research projects, including tasks such as creating timelines, monitoring progress, providing updates to researchers/clients, and ensuring project completion within set timelines and budget.
- Ensures project tracking in CHASR databases are completed and kept up-to-date for reporting purposes.
- Provides administrative assistance to Research Managers in overseeing the day-to-day operations and administration of projects. This may involve project tracking and administration, and ensures relevant CHASR computers, software, and equipment are up-to-date and functional.
- Develops collaborative professional working relationships, liaises, and partners with faculty, administrators, and staff, including the other CHASR managers; Research Facilitators; ICT; University Library; Human Resources; Financial Services; and respective groups at other universities.
- Interacts with internal and external clients of CHASR in a professional and courteous manner.
- Serves as a champion for qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research.
