**What is the role?**

The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for performing a range of accounting and clerical tasks related to the accounts payable function. The focus of this role is on timely and accurate management of Trade payables. This role reports to the Trade Accounts Payable Manager.

**What will you do?**
- Perform three-way match for purchase orders, goods received and invoices before processing. For warehouse purchases use EDI (electronic data interchange) functionality in NAV.
- Identify any EDI issues, share with Trade AP Manager and EDI Manager to resolve in a timely fashion.
- For freight/duty invoices, co-ordinate to have invoices appropriately approved and coded in a timely fashion
- Process approved invoices in NAV. Issue weekly payments via cheque/EFT/wire.
- Review and investigate aged store purchase orders on a weekly basis and work with the stores to clear.
- Clear aged items from monthly AP reconciliations and reconcile vendor statements monthly.
- Ensure vendor cards are kept up to date as vendor information (address, etc.) changes
- Work with Category Analysts/Managers, Replenishment Analysts, and warehouses representatives regularly to resolve pricing and or quantity discrepancies between Pet Valu purchase orders and vendor invoices.
- Proactively contact stores/vendors for any invoice/statement/purchase order discrepancies and resolve.
- Follow up with Category Managers on purchase credit memos to ensure they are posted and recovered from vendors in a timely fashion.
- Develop strong relationships with internal customers, stores and vendors.

**What will you need to succeed?**

Education and Experience
- Diploma, or degree in Accounting, or related field is preferred
- At minimum completion of high school diploma
- Minimum 2 years of AP experience, dealing with high volume of invoices
- Microsoft NAV experience is an asset

Knowledge and Skills
- Intermediate Excel skills (v-lookup and pivot table)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- High attention to detail
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders
