We seek excellent students, faculty, and staff to join us in what has become known as the "Western Experience" - an opportunity to contribute to a better world through the development of new knowledge, new abilities, new connections, and new ways to make a difference. **About Us**: The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of seven Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Food and Nutritional Sciences), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centres. The Faculty has more than 4,000 undergraduate students and more than 900 graduate students (200 PhD students). **Responsibilities**: The Communications Specialist (Website Strategy) will be responsible for overseeing website development with a goal of building and promoting the Faculty of Health Sciences locally, nationally, and internationally. The Specialist will manage the development and implementation of the web strategy and will provide tracking and reporting on analytics. An expert in website design, the Communications Specialist will lead and implement projects and create processes for webpage management across seven School Faculties. This position will also liaise with Faculty of Health Sciences researchers and staff in order to properly communicate the goals of the Faculty. The Specialist will have an overall goal of creating appealing and impactful communications that fit with the Faculty’s and university’s marketing and branding strategies while following best practices, and staying up-to-date on the latest styles and trends in website design. **Qualifications**: **Education**: - Undergraduate University Degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, with courses taken in graphic and website design - Masters degree in Marketing, Public Relations or Communications. Certificate in Graphic Design would be an asset **Experience**: - 3 years’ experience in communications or marketing with an emphasis on graphic and website design, preferably in an academic research environment - 3 years’ experience using content management systems (such as Cascade) - 3 years’ experience managing websites and working with leaders to make changes and build pages that exceed specific needs - Experience with Web Applications and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 is preferred - Experience managing multiple websites under one unit would be an asset Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - In-depth knowledge of image and graphic manipulation/editing and with e-communication tools including website and graphic design principles - Knowledge of marketing trends, best practices and branding - Knowledge of the principles of writing, including grammar and style, argument and coherence - Project management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure - Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit - Ability to establish effective routines for excellent communication with all members of the team to maximize productivity - Ability to analyze metrics and consider past communications to craft engaging written communications using websites or other appropriate channels - Verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience - Ability to produce high-quality results and workable solutions that meet Faculty needs - Ability to remain highly motivated, resilient, innovative, and collaborative when faced with challenges - Ability and willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisions - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities - Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite with the ability to learn and use relevant software that achieves required outcomes and is in line with best practices - Organizational skills to manage multiple assignments that are accurate and thorough, with an ability to manage complex and competing priorities - Team player with the ability to work collaboratively and actively contribute in meetings and in team settings - Familiarity with University research policies and practices preferred - Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred **Western Values Diversity**: Accommodations are available for applicants with disabilities
