Reporting to the Assistant Manager - Fixed Assets & Maintenance, the Unlicensed Trade performs maintenance and repairs to facilities and motorized equipment including vehicles, heavy duty, and lawn/garden equipment. The role will also weld, fabricate, and repair various equipment and facilities as well as assist trades personnel in the facilities department as assigned. Will be involved with the public which requires a considerable display of tact and common courtesy. Working both indoors and outdoors throughout the grounds and various facilities both on site and off site. This position is physically strenuous and demanding job that involves lifting, pulling, and managing heavy equipment and objects anywhere from 40 lbs. to 100+ pounds and involves working at heights. Expected to work in all weather and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold. May be exposed to unpleasant sights and smells as well at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**

**Provides and performs functional expertise by**:

- Positioning and holding metal stock or products to enable work to be carried out
- Performing assembly and dismantling operations, such as screwing or bolting.
- Soldering or spot-welding components using electrical spot
- or butt-welding machines.
- Operating power hammers, presses or other cutting and shaping tools and machines.
- Transporting tools, materials, and work pieces to and from sites or workbenches.
- Cleaning and prepare working surfaces
- Conducting general workshop/yard cleanliness, tidiness, and litter management.
- Delivering and collect maintenance materials from suppliers.
- Undertaking function set ups as required.
- Assisting in mechanical, sandblasting, painting, cleanup, and simple automotive work.
- Operating pipe-cutting and threading machines, air compressors, drills, shears, welders, and other equipment.
- Driving trucks; supplies tools, equipment, and materials to skilled
- High attention to the details of a project or task to ensure proper procedure are followed.
- Demonstrating self-management and dependability.
- Moving tools, equipment, machinery, and construction material to and from work areas

**Maintains health and safety as a top priority by**:

- Managing OH&S and environmental hazards in the workplace.
- Performing routine and unplanned maintenance as required.
- Performing scheduled maintenance, where required.
- Participating in all maintenance and improvement work as required.
- Ensuring safe work practices are followed.
- Identifying training and development opportunities and undertake professional development as required.
- Identifying cost efficiencies and process improvement opportunities in their own
- Cleaning facilities and performs routine maintenance to automotive repair equipment.
- Conducting tire and mechanical repairs.

**Perform other duties on an as and when required basis.**

**Shift is Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.**

**Wage Range: $15.00 - $27.51**

**Requirements**:
**WHAT IT TAKES**

**Education and Experience**
- Grade twelve (12) education.
- Previous experience in the field of motorized equipment repair and maintenance.
- Welding experience is essential.
- First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets
- Experience in multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Must be physically able to lift and move heavy objects.
- You will also have the ability to work conscientiously and with mínimal direction.
- Knowledge of labour code, work standards and occupational health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as a forklift and Scissor lift.
- Proven knowledge and experience of WHIMIS program.

**Other**
- Must possess and maintain a Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Provincial driver’s license.
- Note that this position is an in-scope position under the RWDSU Collective Agreement.
