**Salary**: $56,000 - $64,000 depending on experience

**Position Details**:
This position is sought to accommodate our growing needs for the finance team. It requires intermediate-level accounting skills, including experience in full accounting cycles over multiple years, comfort with making/adjusting entries in ledgers, and experience in running payrolls, processing high-volume bills, expense claims and payments, reconciling credit cards, and handling First Nations taxation. This position will also be responsible for handling confidential information including employment contracts, General Service Agreements, group benefits, and WCB.

**Job duties include**:
**_Accounts Payables (A/P) Support (90%): _**
- Coordinate the bi-weekly payroll transactions and keep payroll records up-to-date;
- Coordinate preparation and submission of Record of Employment (ROE), as needed;
- Coordinate the source deduction remittance;
- Coordinate project expenses with PMs, employees, and external agencies to ensure all expenses are linked to the right projects, approved by PMs, and processed in a timely and efficient manner;
- Coordinate reconciliation and payments to contractors and vendors for billable and non-billable work based on internal policies and procedures;
- Coordinate payments of honoraria for workshop participants by closely working with Project Managers;
- Coordinate credit card including but not limited to setting up, editing or canceling credit cards, and credit card reconciliations;
- Prepare for monthly GST filing and annual corporate filing. Handle other tax filing as needed (US State tax, non-resident withholding tax, corporate income tax etc.);
- Assist with travel coordination including but not limited to setting up user accounts with travel booking system, coordinating per diem payments to staff and troubleshooting for staff in transit;
- Set up and manage contractor files with data management tools (currently GoogleDocs, FileMaker, ShareFile, etc.) and manage copies of contracts, bills and supporting documents digitally and physically based on internal policies and protocol.

**_Other Support (10%): _**
- Provide support to Chief Finance Officer in preparation of the quarterly and year-end closing process, audits, finance reporting, and other finance projects;
- Make enquiries to CRA and contact QuickBooks customer service as needed;
- Liaise with bank and professional services (accountant, bookkeeper, consultant);
- Assist with special projects as requested by CFO, COO, HR Manager, Ops Manager, etc. and work with other operations team members (HR, office coordinator and administrators);
- Participate and assist internal committees, as required.

**Skills and requirements**:

- Proven organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Solid understanding of private sector business and Indigenous business;
- Intermediate-level accounting skills (e.g. comfort with making and adjusting ledger entries) with experience with and exposure to full accounting cycles over multiple years;
- Ability to set priorities and produce quality work independently under tight timelines;
- Flexibility, initiative, and a positive attitude with colleagues, contractors and clients;
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with stakeholders in different locations via multiple communication tools;
- Competency with MS suite, accounting software (QuickBooks or Simply Accounting preferred), and willingness to learn new tools;
- Ability to work from home with provided tools as well as to commute and work at an office in Vancouver or Victoria.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Experience working with Indigenous communities would be a strong asset;
- Knowledge of First Nation taxation;
- Degree or Diploma in Accounting is required; **or **Education in accounting, finance, and business management combined with 3-4 years of experience in related fields are required;
- Experience with payroll;
- Experience in cash management;
- Experience with year-end and audit processes.
