Payroll Operations Process Clerk

**Purpose**:
The University Services Centre (USC) is a critical part of York University's commitment to Service Excellence. The USC is built on a commitment to client service, accountability, and trust, enabled by an effective service-oriented culture, data-driven practices, and simplified processes.The Payroll Operations Process Clerk role is responsible for controlling and scheduling all pay related system processes relative to the creation of paysheets, pay calculations, confirmation/completion of on-cycle and off-cycle pays, creation and submission of the direct deposit files to the bank and producing and transmitting files for printing of pay cheques and pay advice statements.
**Education**:
Post Secondary College education in General Accounting and Payroll In-House Processing or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. Certification with the National Payroll Association.
**Experience**:
Three (3) years recent experience using an in-house processing HRMS/Payroll system in a high volume, unionized and complex payroll environment. Experience with Peoplesoft Human Resources Management System would be an asset.
**Skills**:
Knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping.
Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite and technology proficiency with payroll software, spreadsheets, and databases to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
Effective Peoplesoft query skills.
Effective communication skills.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Working accurately with numeral data and performing complex calculations.
Attending accurately to detail under pressure of high volume.
Setting priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and maintaining confidentiality.
