Applications are invited for the position of Co-op Career Consultant and Employer Relations Consultant within Career Services in the Student Affairs Division of Niagara College. The starting hourly rate is $36.19/hr (Pay Band I $36.19/hr to $41.94/hr) for a 35 hour work week.

Under the direction of the Director, Academic Advising & Career Services at the Welland campus, the Co-op Career Consultant and Employer Relations Consultant (CCC/ERC) provides comprehensive services and support to students in co-op programs and employers. This support includes preparing students for career success including preparation for their co-op work term experience. The consultant will liaise between students and internal and external stakeholders, such as employers to provide expertise on co-op programs and workplace requirements.

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Providing ongoing support to co-op students from the pre-employment phase of job search through to job offers
- Assisting with development of effective resume/cover letters for a successful job search
- Providing information regarding networking and independent job search techniques (including overcoming employment barriers)
- Provide career advice to clients and is responsible for all career-related support to maximize job search success
- Preparing students for the interview process
- Working in cooperation with and in support of the Career Services team in developing opportunities for students, maintaining existing employer base, coordinating interviews and conducting site visits

**Required qualifications**:

- Minimum three (3) year diploma and/or a three year undergraduate University degree in the field of Social Sciences, Sciences, Math, Humanities or Business or related field of study
- Minimum five (5) years related experience in one or more of the following: Employment advising, job development, creating marketing for diverse groups including employer outreach and 1:1 support
- Able to demonstrate marketing and public relations skills with knowledge of Canadian Labour market conditions
- A working knowledge of current self-assessment, job search, interview and résumé writing techniques, as well as excellent written, individual and group communication skills
- Proven abilities in working independently, exercising good judgement and professionalism when interacting with diverse groups of clients and partners
- Previous experience with Orbis/MyCareer portal as well as PeopleSoft will be considered an asset
- This position requires travel within the region and occasional travel within Ontario. The incumbent must have their own transportation
