**POSITION TYPE**: Full-time, Temporary 24-Month Contract
**LOCATION**: Saskatoon (Option for Remote Work)
**ACCOUNTABLE TO**: Business Development Manager
**Brief Overview**:
- The Procurement Engagement Strategist acts as a liaison between provincial and federal procurement processes and Métis entrepreneurs. At the core of their role is the evaluation of the Métis economy's readiness for procurement. They play a pivotal role in devising strategies to enhance Métis-specific procurement infrastructure, designing public policies that support Métis procurement, and promoting Métis business participation in both provincial and federal procurement processes. This role will operate under the guidance of the Manager of Business Development and, when required, will also be entrusted with the evaluation and assessment of potential business opportunities.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Understand the current state of the Métis economy's procurement readiness.
- Engage actively with Métis entrepreneurs to understand their requirements, hurdles, and avenues in both federal and provincial procurement.
- Pave the way for a Métis-specific procurement infrastructure.
- Evaluate and suggest improvements to the SaskMétis Business Directory, ensuring it stays relevant through collaborations with businesses, industry, and governments.
- Engage with Métis communities and governments to shape policy directions.
- Formulate and set in motion procurement protocols tailored for the Métis Nation - Saskatchewan.
- Collaborate with the Economic Development Technical Committee to refine federal procurement procedures based on feedback.
- Deepen relationships with prominent Métis businesses in key sectors.
- Advocate for increased Métis business representation in federal procurement processes.
- Keep the lines of communication open.
- Organize events such as town halls and feedback sessions to stimulate conversation and gather insights.
- Work with Métis entrepreneurs to spot gaps in entrepreneurial education in the field of procurement.
- Offer resources and training sessions for Métis entrepreneurs.
- Spearhead initiatives that highlight procurement opportunities ideal for Métis enterprises.
- Assist the Manager of Business Development in pinpointing opportunities that align with Métis community aspirations.
- Collaborate with the SaskMétis Economic Development Corporation to optimize processes and identify growth opportunities.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor of Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, or related degree.
- Experience in government program administration.
- Minimum two to five years working within a related sector.
- Intermediate project management experience.
**Knowledge and skills**:
- Strong communication skills including speaking, writing, and active listening skills.
- Strong time-management skills along with the ability to prioritize daily tasks, organizational skills, and effective decision-making abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
