**Job Summary**:
Under the supervision of the Manager, the Property Maintenance Worker is responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of Youth Services Bureau owned and operated properties in accordance with policies and procedures established by the organization.
**What you will do**:
- Preventative Maintenance
- In conjunction with the Manager and the maintenance team, develop a maintenance prevention plan for the various Youth Services Bureau ’s properties
- Identify priority areas based on experience with properties
- Maintain awareness and ensure that all preventative maintenance, service agreements, upgrades, warranty work and updates are completed in a timely manner Maintain and control equipment and tool inventories
- Routine maintenance
- Conducts routine maintenance on properties of the Youth Services Bureau
- Identify required work & problem areas and initiate required solutions
- Perform minor repairs when required
- Receive work orders, complete tasks Participate in detailed inspection tours of Youth Services Bureau sites
- Coordinates and monitors contracts for various services at each property; this can include the following: janitorial, general maintenance, parking, life safety, security and snow removal
- Participate as appropriate in procurement processes
- Ensure familiarity with contractors & their practices
- Monitor contractors and evaluate performance Coordinate & schedule projects
- Ensure and oversee the maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, appliances, electrical and mechanical systems
- Monitor & maintain mechanical and utility systems
- Complete repairs on appliances or coordinate service with outside contractors Record contractor activity, logging contractor time spent at sites
- Financial Management
- Complete purchase orders for all requested work at the site
- Ensure adequate supplies are maintained onsite for the maintenance of each property
- Safety & Security
- Develop and implement schedules and procedures for safety inspections and preventive maintenance programs
- Preform work that requires adherence to safety procedures/practices when dealing with hazards
- Check the functionality of all safety systems at each site (life safety, security systems, cameras) Report & resolve all unsafe conditions and activities
- Customer / Client Relations
- Communicate with co-workers and tenants regarding required work and to schedule work
Other Duties:
- Record activity in appropriate system to ensure adequate tracking & statistical reporting
- Follows safe work practices as established by Youth Services Bureau and the Program
**This opportunity may be right for you if you have**:
- Completion of a college program in facility operation and maintenance or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
- 2 -3 years of experience in facility operations or maintenance
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices - Occupational Health and Safety Certification would be an asset
- Demonstrated skills in trades, building codes, construction techniques
- Ability to conduct minor repairs to properties as required
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong time-management skills
- Ability to exercise patience, tact, diplomacy and discretion
- Ability to manage contractors
- Valid Driver’s license and access to vehicle is required
- Valid First Aid/CPR required
- Ability to work flexible hours as required
