**The role**:
VCIM is seeking a Co-Op to join our Public Equities team for the Spring/Summer term (May to August). Working collaboratively with the Equities team, you will assist with the day-to-day management of its Global Equity, Global Small Cap, Canadian Equity and Income mandates in accordance with VCIM’s Responsible Investment approach. At this time we are only hiring students who reside in BC and are enrolled in a BC institution.
**A typical day would involve**:
Conducting fundamental research on current and prospective holdings and providing well-formulated investment recommendations.
Discussing potential and current equity investments with the rest of the Equities team in a thoughtful and open manner.
Facilitating the development and updating of necessary tools for use by the Equities team to assist in portfolio construction and investment research.
Writing commentaries that provide an overview of the financial markets.
**You are**:
Passionate - about investing and enjoy working in a dynamic learning environment.
Deep Thinker - voracious reader, who has an insatiable curiosity about how different frameworks & trends fit together.
Analytical - proficient in breaking down complex information and identifying key points for consideration.
**You have**:
Working towards an MBA or an undergraduate degree across any discipline.
Understanding of environmental, social and governance factors as they relate to investing.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a desire to work in a team environment dedicated to responsible investing.
**The Team**:
In this role, you will report into the Associate Portfolio Manager, Equities and work closely with the Public Equities team.

- Resume that includes the five most important books you’ve read.
- Cover letter with the answers to the following questions: (1) why you want to work at Vancity Investment Management, (2) why you are interested in investing, and (3) why ESG is important in investment decision making.
- Written stock pitch (limited to a 2-page PDF) on a company you find interesting.
