A leader in environmentally conscious water management solutions in Western Canada with offices in B.C. and Alberta has need for smart, enthusiastic, mechanically-inclined, environmentally conscious Field Technicians to work outdoors on constructions sites throughout the lower mainland. If you don’t have experience, we provide training - but keen interest in our industry and a commitment to learning are pre-requisites.
Stormtec is a specialty water management company that makes the lives of their customers easier by taking on their water management challenges. When we do it right, no one notices us doing our work - not our customers, not the communities we work in, not the fish in the local streams. Except that our customers realize we don’t have the ongoing headache of water management. We provide water management solutions for sediment control, contaminated water treatment, dewatering and bypass solutions in the construction industry.
We’ve doubled in size over the last three years and expect to double again. We have a young, progressive team of 70 staff, led by an ambitious President & CEO who is leading the company through unprecedented but sustainable growth.
People who succeed at this job will:
- Set up and test operations of mobilized equipment on site
- Conduct regular visits to operating systems set out by the Project Manager
- Check pH & turbidity levels to ensure levels are within site requirements and take water samples as required
- Diagnose and repair systems & equipment in a safe and effective manner
- Communicate with Project Manager & Project Coordinator
- Prepare Field Service Reports on forms and log books
- Maintain accurate inventory tracking of equipment in transit and on site
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs, loading and unloading equipment from our trucks.
- Perform duties safely to comply with safety regulations including the use of hand and power tools
Skills and Related Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of previous work experience preferably within the construction industry.
- Can work outdoors in all kinds of weather
- Work well under pressure (internal and external), in a team and independently
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
A diploma in chemical/environmental studies is not necessary but will be useful.
**OTHER STUFF**
There’s no doubt that you’ll face some challenges; but you will be up for it because of your interest in this industry, drive to learn, and strong detail-orientation. We have a career ladder, so do well, acquire more skills and proficiency and you can position yourself for career progression as other field tech roles becomes available across our business lines.
Please note, this is not a lab tech position, this is an outdoor job at various client construction sites ensuring our water management equipment gear is doing the job to clean contaminated water from construction sites. The job is physically demanding at times.
The workweek is Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. Ability to work some overtime after hours or be on call on the weekends, especially during our rainy/ busy season (September to April), is necessary, in addition to the ability to work out of town intermittently.
