**What you will do**
Reporting to the Director, Employee Relations, the Disability Management Specialist plays a critical role in supporting a healthy, productive, and inclusive workplace. This position provides expert advice, guidance, and coaching to employees, leaders, and HR partners on all aspects of early intervention, workplace accommodation and disability case management.
The Specialist will also oversee and manage relationships with external service providers, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations, industry best practices, and the high standard of support expected by our employees.
**Your future responsibilities**
As our Disability Management Specialist you will:
- Lead end-to-end disability case management, ensuring safe, timely, and well-supported return-to-work outcomes.
- Guide and support employees and management through various early intervention programs to assist employees dealing with health issue(s).
- Develop and implement individualized workplace accommodation plans.
- Ensure vendor management and case facilitation with third party providers for all aspects of disability management, including, At-Work Services, and accommodations.
**What you need to succeed**
- Knowledge and understanding of Disability Management best practice and applicable legislations as well as relevant policies, guidelines and resources.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing and delivering a disability management program, with responsibility for vendor management and reporting;
OR
**Your knowledge and skills**
- Knowledge of the Canadian Human Rights Act and in particular the Duty to Accommodate
- Working knowledge of accommodation principles and privacy legislation
- Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code
- Strong problem solving skills and ability in exercising sound judgment
- Demonstrated ability to navigate sensitive and complex conversations.
- Skilled at adapting communication style to effectively engage diverse audiences, from individual employees to senior leadership.
- Detailed orientated and strong organizational skills
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
**Nice-to-have**
- Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP)
- Knowledge and understanding of Employee Relations principles and practices
**Your education and experience**
The position requires a post-secondary education in human resources management, industrial relations or a related field and 5 years of experience in a client-focused role; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
