**Your Opportunity**

One Permanent Full Time Position.

Capital Power is seeking a seasoned Trader to lead our activities in the Western U.S. power and natural gas markets. This position is well-suited for a strategic and results-oriented leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about optimizing natural gas power plant operations and advancing trading strategies.

**You will contribute to our team by**:

- Developing hedging strategies for Capital Power’s WECC and CAISO asset portfolio of gas generation facilities.
- Creating and executing speculative power and gas trading strategies for physical and financial markets.
- Managing relationships with counterparties, customers and brokers, including the negotiation of master agreements, EMAs and AMAs where applicable.
- Leading and guiding a team of traders, promoting a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Analyzing Western power and gas markets to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Monitoring hedging and trading performance, and provide reports to senior management.
- Collaborating with Operations, Risk Management, and Finance departments to support trading activities.
- Staying updated on industry developments to improve strategies and processes.

**What you will bring to the role**:
**Education**:

- Bachelor's degree in finance, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related field with a solid academic record.

**Experience**:

- 10+ years of experience in physical and financial power trading with strong knowledge of delta hedging strategies, Western US power and gas term markets and risk management.

**Technical Skills**:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting complex data and making decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.

**Working Conditions**:

- Hybrid Office/Work from home position, with possible very mínimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.
