**Position Description**

Reporting to the Cultural Services Manager, the ARCS Facilitator is responsible for delivering an Anti-racism & Cultural Safety curriculum and all relevant training for healthcare service providers at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH) and the Kenora Chiefs Advisory (KCA). This role involves engaging diverse groups of participants to foster understanding, awareness, and action towards anti-Indigenous racism, and cultural safety for Anishinaabe patients in Kenora/Treaty 3. The ARCS Facilitator will collaborate with the Strategy & Innovation Department to help deliver, evaluate, and improve the curriculum.

Department: Primary Care - Indigenous Patient Navigation and Cultural Services

Term: Full-time

Location: 240 Veterans Drive, 3rd Floor, Kenora, Ontario

Reports to: Cultural Services Manager

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Training Facilitation & Organization**

Ø Plan, facilitate, and continuously refine the Anti-Racism & Cultural Safety (ARCS) training curriculum and materials, ensuring alignment with the needs of local healthcare providers.

Ø Develop and deliver engaging training sessions using diverse instructional techniques and technologies to maximize participant engagement and learning outcomes.

Ø Coordinate all aspects of training logistics, including booking venues, arranging catering, and preparing required materials.

Ø Lead and support additional related training and learning opportunities, including cultural support sessions, land-based learning activities, and other initiatives that foster understanding of Anishinaabe culture and traditions.

**Participant Engagement**

Ø Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment to encourage open dialogue and discussion on sensitive topics such as race, racism, and cultural safety in healthcare.

Ø Facilitate meaningful conversations that promote awareness, understanding, and actionable change in participants’ attitudes and practices.

Ø Partner with Anishinaabe Elders and Knowledge-Keepers to integrate traditional teachings and cultural perspectives into training.

Ø Address participant concerns, resistance, and challenging questions with empathy and professionalism.

**Data Collection & Program Assessment**

Ø Utilize evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of training sessions and overall program impact.

Ø Gather and analyze participant feedback to identify opportunities for improvement in training content and delivery methods.

Ø Prepare detailed reports on training outcomes, including recommendations for future initiatives to enhance program effectiveness.

**Qualifications**:
**Education & Experience**

Ø Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Sciences, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred

Ø 3-5 years of experience in facilitating training sessions, preferably in anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion is preferred

Ø Lived experience related to Indigenous culture and cultural teachings

**Skills & Competencies**

Ø Deep understanding of systemic racism, racial equity, and social justice issues, particularly in healthcare

Ø Proven ability to facilitate challenging conversations and manage group dynamics effectively.

Ø Excellent skills in the following areas: computer, organization, networking, interpersonal, presentation and communication (written and oral)

Ø Knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture and language and experience in working in First Nations communities considered an asset

**Additional Requirements**

Ø Valid driver’s license and vehicle

Ø Willing to travel (when required) to all Treaty #3 First Nation communities

Ø Current satisfactory criminal reference check with vulnerable sector search
