**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Director of Public Health and under the clinical direction of Medical Health Officers (MHO) the Manager, Harm Reduction & Sexual Health provides coordination and support across Island Health in the education, planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of harm reduction & sexual health services. The Manager, Harm Reduction & Sexual Health contributes to the professional and organizational vision as it pertains to island-wide harm reduction & sexual health program strategies and service delivery. This position is responsible to provide leadership/development of assigned projects, including program planning and coordination, reporting and evaluation of harm reduction and sexual health projects. Serves on provincial committees and in collaboration with the Director and Public Health Managers participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of harm reduction & sexual health programs.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in nursing or a related health profession and five (5) years' recent clinical experience as well as specific experience working in public health.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Eligible for registration with the appropriate profession body.
- Experience in rural and remote care delivery an asset.
- Experience in both community and hospital environments preferred.
- Understanding of current best practice models in public health.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team including community partners.
- Knowledge of community development process.
- Knowledge of technology based communication and learning strategies.
- Project management and community development skills.
- Ability to lead, direct, and develop staff.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work independently and with initiative.
- Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills.
