**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, STOP HIV and Bloodborne Diseases (BBD), under the clinical direction of the Medical Health Officer (MHO), and in collaboration with the Overdose Response Manager and other key Island Health staff, the Regional Harm Reduction Coordinator provides leadership across the designated geography of Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) in the education, planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of harm reduction services. As an integral member of the senior Communicable Disease team, the Regional Harm Reduction Coordinator contributes to the professional and organizational vision as it pertains to both geography-specific and Island-wide harm reduction strategies and service delivery.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field such as Public Health, Health Promotion or Social Work and a minimum of five (5) years' recent related experience including one (1) year supervisory experience in a complex, multi-union environment.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Eligible for registration with the appropriate professional body.
- Experience working with marginalized populations and with community resources is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation and government policies as related to harm reduction services.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated program development skills.
- Ability to administer, oversee and coordinate the delivery of contracted community health services.
- Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams and multiple community agencies.
- Ability to provide group leadership, facilitate professional development, facilitate change and perform needs assessments and program evaluations.
- Ability to organize, coordinate and prioritize own work.
- Effective interpersonal and leadership skills and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships.
- Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning.
- Ability to work with computer technology at a sophisticated level.
- Extensive travel is a requirement of the position.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
