**Payroll Administrator**

**Job Description**:
The Payroll Administrator is responsible for working with the payroll provider and Human Resources to ensure that payroll, related remittances and accounting activities are processed accurately and on a timely basis.
- Maintains payroll information. This includes collecting, calculating, and entering data into the payroll system, reconciling pension, benefits, donations and other payroll related remittances, and ensuring timely payment of amounts due.
- Prepares all salary related journal entries for entry into the general ledger. Updates payroll records in the payroll system including entering changes in salaries, exemptions, department/division transfers, and other payroll deductions.
- Provides payroll information and responds to inquiries as required in French or English.
- Maintains knowledge of current payroll legislation. Follows policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations, reporting needed changes as required.
- Liaises with the Human Resources department and payroll provider to resolve complex payroll issues.
- On a monthly basis reconciles all payroll general ledger accounts and prepares variance analysis for payroll and benefit expenses. Prepares monthly cost share journal entries and monthly reconciliations.
- Completes year-end audit schedules for various payroll general ledger accounts.
- Prepares year end T4’s, T4A’s, T2200, RL1's and annual returns for all provinces including Quebec.
- Secures financial information through regular database back-ups and follows internal accounting controls to maintain financial security.
- Performs other duties within competence, as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Grade twelve secondary school education.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in payroll.
- Completion of Canadian Payroll Association certification program (Payroll Compliance Practitioner is preferred).
- Knowledge of HRIS software and accounting packages such as Dayforce or D365.
- Exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate
- Demonstrated ability to collect, compare and analyze all information and figures in great detail, while using creative and strategic approaches to solve complex problems and concepts.
- Superior time management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities including strong project management skills.
- The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
