The workforce consists of teachers, office staff, custodial staff, education assistants and professional staff. We currently have a opportunity for a Long Term Occasional SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT (EA) in our Life Skills program.

Supporting students with special needs including physical and development needs (e.g. ASD, DD, CP, Down Syndrome). Special needs students may also require support with behavioural needs. Duties may include toileting, lifting, transferring, feeding, dressing and personal hygiene.

All EA assignments are Level 3 unless otherwise noted.

LTOs $24.67 per hour (plus vacation pay) and benefits for LTOs over four (4) months (starting from the beginning of the LTO)

The Board shall undertake to hire Employees with appropriate post-secondary education and directly related experience. Suggested appropriate qualifications include:

Community and Justice

Corrections Worker

Developmental Disabilities Worker

Development Service Worker

Educational Assistant / Educational Support

Early Childhood Education (with special needs experience)

Post-ECE Advanced Studies in Special Needs

Bachelor of Arts - Child and Youth Care

Bachelor of Arts - Psychology

Bachelor of Arts - Sociology

Bachelor of Arts - Exceptionality in Human Learning

Bachelor of Social Work

Registered Nurse

Registered Practical Nurse

Social Service Worker (Gerontology and Immigrants and Refugees specializations not applicable)

Ontario College of Teachers Certification with minimum Additional Qualification (AQ) in Spec. Ed. Part 1
