**Key Responsibilities**:
- Identify safety training needs within the Bronswerk - Halifax Group. Coordinate supervisor safety training courses/train the trainer.
- Responsible for allocating in-house training (ex. WHMIS, fit testing, forklift, and shop equipment standards) as necessary.
- Update, maintain and continually improve our safety program and manual/documentation.
- Maintain monthly Information Services Network (ISN) safety and training program (Shipyard requirement).
- Maintain a presence on site and meet client requirements for safety programming.
- Conduct site inspections and verify safe working conditions.
- Lead and participate in incident investigations (root cause / root cause analysis)
- Prepare and deliver Halifax Group weekly safety meetings (3 sites)
- Partake in new hire orientations, relating to safety.
- Coach and mentor employees on HSE policies, procedures and inspection completions.
- Maintain statistics for month-to-month and year-to-year analysis.
- Set standards, promote and influence a positive safety culture company wide.
- Participate in client weekly safety meetings onsite.
- Conduct safety inspections and JHA/FLRA (Field Level Risk Assessment) audits.
- Provide ongoing support to employees and front-line management in the effective execution of HSE programs and initiatives.
- Liaise with provincial OHSE for any inspections for the Halifax properties.
- Collaborate in the implementation of the company Integrated Management System (IMS) including the development procedures and best practices to meet standard requirements.
**Requirements**:
- at least one year of experience in a safety role.
- Thorough knowledge of Provincial OH&S acts and legislation.
- Certificate / diploma in OH&S or equivalent experience.
- Versatility, flexibility, and demonstrated ability to work in changing priorities.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
- Able to work independently to achieve goals
- All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and a Canadian Government Security clearance_.
