**Job Summary**:
The Community Safety and Well-Being Planning Intern will provide a range of planning, program and engagement supports to deliver a wide array of programs and strategic initiatives across Halton. The intern will primarily support Halton’s Community Safety and Well-being Initiative, assisting with tasks such as preparing presentations, engaging with community partners, data analysis, planning programs, managing projects, conducting research, and handling administrative duties. There will also be an opportunity to support community investment and community development work through involvement in projects related to the Halton Region Community Investment Fund and other regional investments. There will be opportunities to work with both internal and external stakeholders.
**Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Support departmental initiatives such as community safety and well-being planning.
- Support program planning and evaluation initiatives to enhance integrated human service delivery.
- Support data analysis including data compilation from internal and external sources, managing data quality, developing reports with data visualization, and knowledge translation methods.
- Support data-driven decision making through the use of performance measurement and program evaluation methods.
- Support research activities including situational assessments, environmental scans and literature searches.
- Prepare written documents such as briefing notes, reports, meeting minutes and documents for leadership. Participate in community investment and community development work as part of the grant support for the Halton Region Community Investment Fund.
- Perform administrative duties such as organizing working groups, agendas, minutes, and presentations.
- Assist with SCS priority projects and business process improvements across multiple program areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Skills & Qualifications**:
**Essential**
- Bachelor's degree focused on Human Services, Planning & Research, Public Health, Public Policy, Social Science, Public or Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical, research, communication, planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Be self-motivated capable of working in a team environment and independently.
**Preferred**
- Understanding of human service programs and issues with a focus on community safety and well-being planning.
- Experience supporting community engagement and collective impact initiatives.
- Experience supporting granting processes.
- Broad knowledge of tools and processes for project management.
