Reporting jointly to the Faculty HR lead with a dotted line relationship to the EIO Manager of Inclusion and Anti-Racism Education Programs, the Specialist, EDI, fulfills their duties in a manner that reflects the diverse experiences and interests of equity-deserving groups (EDGs) and acknowledges and honours Indigenous wisdom, self-determination and ways of knowing. The Specialist leads the design, delivery and evaluation of programs and other initiatives aligned with the Faculty’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion (EDI) and anti-racism along with a 3-5 year strategic planning goal on EDI undertaken in a manner that reflects the diverse experiences and interests of equity seeing groups (ESG). Embedded within the Faculty’s leadership team, the Specialist fulfills the roles of consultant, advocate, teacher, navigator, facilitator, project manager and collaborator, working closely with Faculty and university colleagues to create and sustain a culture and experience of inclusive excellence within the faculty. The Specialist will work in consultation, collaboration and alignment with the Organizational Development/Employment Equity/Talent teams, to support implementing and operationalizing workplace EDI programs, training and employee experience initiatives for staff and faculty. In addition, the Specialist will engage in activities and initiatives to enhance relationships with students, manage and update the EDI website, and oversee the quarterly EDI section of a newsletter. The Specialist is also a first line resource for support and information to staff and/or faculty who identify as members of an equity-deserving group, ensuring safe spaces and processes to identify, to consult and refer to appropriate intake offices or leadership within the department on matters related to experiences of discrimination, harassment and/or active EIO Inclusion and Anti-Racism team member. The Specialist, EDI will establish mutually beneficial professional relationships and sharing best practices and resources as part of this community of practice. The incumbent will: - Provide consultation to the DeGroote School of Business (DSB) leaders, faculty and staff on best practices, review and analysis of existing practices and design of related improvements, relevant resources and training, and other areas of expertise relevant to achieving inclusive excellence; - Provide skilled project management services to the department in designing, planning, implementing and evaluating EDI and anti-racism initiatives in collaboration with the department’s leadership team, including but not limited to a comprehensive training program tailored appropriately for all faculty and staff, that reflect emerging evidence-based pedagogies for effective knowledge dissemination and skill-building in relation to EDI and anti-racism, addressing such topics as the continuum of hate, implicit bias, intersectionality, systemic discrimination, allyship, active witnessing and bystander intervention, for example; - Provide first-level consultation, support and advocacy for Department members who have experienced discrimination and/or harassment, or those who have other concerns as a member of an equity deserving group; - Promote awareness of, and relevant participation in, initiatives of the EIO and the DSB, and establish effective collaboration with these offices to both inform and learn from initiatives implemented within the department; - Lead and coordinate the planning, creation and dissemination of monthly communications (e.g. departmental newsletter, faculty and staff portals) designed to build, sustain and strengthe
