**The Haida Gwaii Instiute (HGI)** is a community-based education and research post-secondary institution that is governed by the Haida Gwaii Higher Education Society (HGHES) and the University of British Columbia Faculty of Forestry. We are seeking instructors to teach two upcoming courses this fall: Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship (online) and Ecosystem-Based Management (in Skidegate BC).

**About the Opportunity to Teach**:
Though these courses are already designed, you will have the opportunity to adapt them to your strengths and area of expertise. HGI staff will help plan relevant community educators, field activities, and provide other support to help ensure success. Your teaching commitment will include the instructional days, as well we preparation, marking, and wrap-up for a 3-credit undergraduate course (0.25 teaching load). More specific course dates/times are listed below. The rate of pay per 3-credit course is $8,621.

**Courses**:
**Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship**, Online
**September 3 to December 10 2025 - Monday & Wednesday 9-10:30am PST**

HGSE 383 An examination of the relationships between culture, ingenuity, creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation required to understand and foster systems change through Indigenous and cross-cultural examples.

**Ecosystem
- Based Management**, in-person in Skidegate BC
**November 18 to December 4, 2025 - Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 9am-4pm**

**Qualifications**:

- Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous teaching experience, working in cross-cultural settings, knowledge of Haida culture and being a
resident of Haida Gwaii are all assets.
- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own.
- Demonstrated commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity,
diversity, and inclusion.
