**Job Description **TPT Weight Room Attendant

The City of Port Moody is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to supervise the weight room and surrounding areas.

This position will provide instruction in and monitor for the safe use of equipment in the weight room while ensuring the aerobics, spinning and weight room equipment and areas are clean, safe and ready to use. Duties may include the following:

- Monitor weight room to ensure patrons abide by rules and equipment is used safely
- Provide orientation or direct instruction to patrons
- Maintain cleanliness of weight, aerobic and spinning rooms and ensure equipment is safe and ready to use; report equipment issues as they arise
- Check in patrons and enter information on computer
- Respond to incidents and emergencies and provide first aid as needed

This is a temporary, part-time position for 12-18 months.

**Basic Qualifications**:

- High school education plus a minimum of six months to one year of related weight room experience
- Completion of six months of related post-secondary courses (ie: sport sciences, kinesiology or specialized technical certification)
- BCRPA weight training module or equivalent certification
- BCRPA Personal Trainer Certification or equivalent is preferred
- Emergency First Aid and CPR C / AED (or equivalent) is required
- Physically fit and able to lift weights of differing amounts, clean continuously during shift
- Excellent customer service skills and experience instructing and directing weight room patrons
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
- Some experience / knowledge of MS Office and Perfect Mind would be an asset
