This position leads all aspects of the cross-functional team that provides destination planning and development programming that engages the Province, First Nations, Indigenous Tourism Association of BC (ITBC), communities, businesses, DMOs (regional and community), sectors and other industry and business partners to develop plans and activities that will enhance BC as a destination of choice and increase the tourism industry’s long-term competitiveness. Reporting to the Director, Destination Development and Stewardship, this position is responsible for developing, managing and evaluating a best in class strategic Iconic development approach, that integrates destination development and management activities with place branding and marketing activities, to support delivery of Destination BC’s Invest in Iconics Strategy. Requiring a strategic mindset and exceptional relationship building and conflict resolution skills, the Manager, Destination Development works with other program areas to integrate Destination BC’s and industry’s destination development and management efforts with branding and marketing efforts. This leadership role will foster, influence and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with a wide range of external partners including all levels of governments (Federal, Provincial, Local, and First Nations), ITBC, tourism associations (Sector and Destination Marketing Organizations), BC Chambers, and BC tourism business to deliver on the goals set out for the Destination Management division, as part of Destination BC’s Corporate Strategy. Continuing to build our proactive presence throughout BC, this position requires exceptional planning and resource management skills coupled with honed negotiation and conflict management skills to achieve best results.
