**Position title**: Junior Researcher - Health

**Reports to**:Business Lead or Project Manager on a project basis

**Supervised by**:Operations Manager or Delegate

**Salary range**:Competitive, commensurate with experience

**Background**:
**Job Duties**:

- Research: _
- Assist with data coding and quote pulling.
- Conduct literature reviews based on academic and gray literature.
- Information management: _
- Manage information, including meeting and community engagement notes, audio, and video files.
- Update and track internal content management system (Sharefile) and support all team members to archive project-related documents and data effectively.
- Relationship building: _
- Maintain and build ongoing relations with community partners and organizations.
- Support completion of deliverables for diverse Indigenous communities and organizations.
- Report writing: _
- Perform regular reporting and documentation of community engagements.
- Assist with drafting and finalizing project reports, toolkits, briefs, evaluations, and other written documentation.
- Travel: _
- Work closely with Firelight researchers and travel to conduct research and interviews using Indigenous research methods that follow consistent documentation protocols.
- Other: _
- Support administrative duties, special projects, and other tasks as may be required.

**Qualifications**:

- Degree in social sciences (ideally relevant to health policy or Indigenous governance) - with experience in qualitative research, or commensurate experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in community-based research is preferred.

**Required Skills (applicants must provide evidence of these skills)**:

- Excellent writing and analytical skills.
- Experience coordinating projects and research teams.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively to diverse audiences, including Indigenous communities and their members, existing and potential clients, funders, directors, associates, and internal staff.
- Strong attention to detail and highly proficient with information management systems and protocols.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

**Rated Skills** (applicants will be comparatively assessed on these skills):

- Ability to conduct training with community/client researchers.
- Knowledge and use of Indigenous research methodologies.
- Familiarity with health priorities and issues impacting Indigenous peoples in Canada.
