Requisition ID: 174917 Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture. **Associate, Corporate Banking - Consumer, Industrial and Retail, Canada** **Purpose** Corporate Banking is currently recruiting for the position of an Associate in its Consumer, Industrial and Retail, Canada team located in Toronto. The individual will support the respective Managing Directors/Directors in managing their portfolios. The Associate will be responsible for handling or providing assistance on all credit-related activities including the completion of credit presentations, identifying lending and cross-sell opportunities, structuring loan transactions, performing due diligence, negotiating documentation and monitoring compliance and industry trends. The role focuses on a portfolio of consumer, industrial and retail companies of varying sizes, ranging from smaller privately owned entities to large multi-nationals. Scotiabank is a leader in lending to the consumer, industrial and retail industry, including leading many general corporate loan facilities, M&A driven lending transactions and select sponsor financings. **Position Highlights** - Provide day to day account management support - Structure, analyze and perform due diligence on transactions that vary in complexity - Develop recommendations for the appropriate course of action - Analyze, process and execute credit requests - Research credit and bank product requirements of existing and prospective clients - Ensure credit files, agreements and security documents are complete and up to date - Monitor and follow for client compliance - Assist with the preparation of marketing pitches - Coordinate with various product groups within GBM - Develop and maintain effective industry relationships with other lenders, legal counsel, clients *** **Is this role right for you?** - Business development capabilities - Assist with client relationship management and contribute to cross-sell activities - Maintain a professional approach in all client interaction - Excellent writing and verbal skills with concise rationale supporting recommendations and actions - High attention to detail with a sense of urgency appropriate to the situation - Strong time management skills and driven to achieve timelines and goals - Flexible to demands of work and viewed as a valuable team resource - Promotes cooperation, teamwork, and professional internal relationships **Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?** - BComm/MBA/CFA designation - Strong written and verbal communication skills proficiency in Spanish is considered an asset - Strong financial modelling experience - Knowledge or experience in the consumer, industrial and retail industry is preferred although not required - Strong computer skills including the use of MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint Location(s): Canada : Ontario : Toronto Scotiabank is a leading bank in the Americas.
