**Position - Planning Officer - Large Design and Urban Planning**:
Salary - $88,707 - $103,775

Reports to - Manager of Planning

Location - Lindsay, ON

**Essential Duties**_ _**:

- Recommend and develop policies and procedures related to large, complex or major planning developments
- Prepare and present at Ontario Land Tribunal hearings and act as facilitator on behalf of municipality to resolve disputes involving planning matters
- Respond to enquiries from Council, staff, public, development consultants and related professionals
- Perform other related duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field, with an additional specialized course of study
- Minimum 5 years of related progressive experience, preferably in a municipal environment
- Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation and member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute
- Working knowledge of planning and urban design principles, statutory requirements, by-laws, provincial policies and regulations applicable to municipal planning; familiarity with current literature and trends
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, with demonstrated time management skills and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Excellent communicative skills, both oral and written, which include preparation of technical and administrative reports, and extensive experience of addressing public forums
- Interpersonal and negotiating skills to facilitate negotiations and conflict resolution such as OLT mediation and development agreements
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, with demonstrated time management skills and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and tact and maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times, complying with all applicable privacy legislation and local policies and procedures
- Demonstrated customer service skills at a level to develop and to maintain cooperative/collaborative working relationships both within and outside the organization
- Ability to demonstrate initiative consistently with commitment to quality improvement, sharing process improvement initiatives with management
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet and any other related software
- Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence or the ability to attend to work related activities at various sites within the municipality or at other sites within Ontario
- Possess and maintain the absence of a Criminal Record. (Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, will be required.)
