At Fairview Seniors Community, we seek to nurture the mind, body and spirit of residents through a culture of kindness, building ‘a community for all’. We are a charitable, non-profit, organization comprised of 214 independent living apartments and condominiums, 46 retirement residential suites with assisted living services and an expanding long-term care home from 84 beds to 192.
**Position Summary**:Develops, implements, leads and supervises daily aquatic programs to provide meaningful activity, social engagement and independence for members.
**Reports to**: Director Program & Services
**Assets and Qualifications**:
- Experience working with seniors with complex, age-related diseases and/or mental health concerns
- Aqua Ability certification an asset
- Bronze Cross Certification or Lifeguard Certifications
- First Aid/CPR/AED training
- Seniors Fitness Instructor
- Positive, team-work attitude and approach to work
- Current Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector component /TB skin test or ability to obtain
**Position Specific Responsibilities**: include, but are not limited to:
- Provides safe, supervised warm water therapeutic aquatic exercise programs and guidance to pool -participants including, water fitness classes, swim lessons and rentals
- Provides pool member/visitor intake, welcome and orientation
- Collaborates with the Director, Program & Services to develop, implement and evaluate the aquatic activities schedule
- Acts as a full member of the Campus program team providing support to volunteers and special events as needed
- Support the creation of the newsletter, monthly calendar and campus communications
- Testing of pool water; pool maintenance (chemicals, cleaning, document)
- Supports and motivates members and guests to achieve their health and fitness goals
**Shift Information**:Full-time hours 75 hours bi-weekly**.**This position includes day, evening and/or weekend work as well as statutory holidays.
