Financial Aid Officer Lead

**Description**:
At NLC, our Financial Aid Officers provide information and guidance to new and returning students about budgeting; student financial assistance programs including loans, awards, and grants; funding eligibility and selection criteria; and student loan repayment options. The role also supports the administration of government student financial assistance, institutional awards and scholarships, and emergency aid programs, following established processes and criteria.
In this role, the Financial Aid Officer Lead coordinates the operations of this financial aid team, ensuring that all College, provincial, and federal regulations related to student financial assistance programs are being adhered to. They will also liaise with Ministry officials as our designated point of contact for policy interpretation and system account management.
Under the guidance of the Associate Registrar, this position will develop, implement, and deliver information sessions about student financial assistance options to the College community; prepare presentations and supporting information and materials.
**Qualifications**:
REQUIRED:
- Successful completion of a two-year diploma in a related field, such as advising or business management (or equivalent).
- One-year related experience in financial aid or related policy-intensive setting, with significant student or client contact.
- Experience and intermediate proficiency with a current version of MS Office Suite (excel, word, outlook, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently or as a team while managing multiple demands with varying deadlines.
- Demonstrated strength in analytical reasoning and problem solving.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise tact, diplomacy, discretion, and sensitivity is essential.
- Current and valid driver's license (some travel may be necessary).
