**CORE FUNCTIONS**

The **_Personal Support Worker (P.S.W.) _**is a key member of the therapeutic team within the Home. His/her functions are directed by input from the Registered Nurse and a written care plan. The **_P.S.W. _**promotes the Residents’ quality of life and assists them to maximize their full potential by:

- Assisting in the provision of care to meet the personal care, activation, recreation, environmental and spiritual needs of the Resident
- Supporting the Resident's independence, dignity, social, emotional and cultural well-being
- Working from the written care plan developed by the Registered Nurse
- Initiating and maintaining a relationship with Resident/Family and other care providers in the Home
- Familiarity with and facilitating the R.E.S.T. Philosophy

**STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE**

**Education**:

- High School graduate preferred
- Have successfully completed the Personal Support Worker course at an approved institution
- Have recent working experience with the physically and cognitively impaired elderly in a health care setting
- Annual CPR update; BCLS
- Good physical and mental health
- Familiarity with “Commitment to Residents” and “Code of Ethics” as set out by ORCA training program
- Willingness to update and keep current their knowledge of changing regulations, practices and procedures

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 15 per week

**Salary**: From $18.38 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

**Experience**:

- PSW: 1 year (preferred)
