Overview

Reporting to the Director, the Junior Financial Analyst will be an integral part of the Starlight US Residential team. The role will have wide exposure into accounting, IFRS financial reporting, financial performance measurement, and treasury functions.

**Responsibilities**:

- Detailed review of monthly reporting packages for properties within the asset portfolio, ensuring these are complete, accurate and reflect appropriate commentary on the results of operations.
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger of our corporate structures including posting journal entries, analyzing general ledger activity, maintaining intercompany reconciliations and entries for investment vehicles.
- Assist with preparation of consolidated account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of Financial Statements and MD&A disclosures under IFRS.
- Assist in preparation and compilation of working papers, lead sheets and any other requests for the external audit and lender reporting process.
- Detailed variance analysis and commentary of property managers monthly results, including income statement, balance sheet and capital expenditures.
- Partner with Asset Managers to highlight operational deficiencies or opportunities for the properties based on financial analysis.
- Work with property managers in the U.S to understand their business operations and ensure the financial accuracy reflects business performance.

**Requirements**:

- Currently enrolled in an Accounting or Business Program in a Canadian University
- In pursuit of the CPA designation
- Highly motivated, strong organizational skills and analytical mindset, eager to learn, be impactful and think outside of the box
- Interested in learning about the real estate industry
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to prioritize, multi-task and able to work in a changing, fast-paced environment, sensitive to deadlines
