Performs a wide variety of laboratory tasks and experiments. May make detailed observations, analyze data and interpret results. Maintains laboratory equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies. May write experimental reports, summaries and protocols. May also be responsible for media preparation in the research and development area, including experiments as required and outlined. May also develop and maintain record keeping for experiments performed. Performs limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments. May perform glass washing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Performs sample and reagent preparation, DNA extraction and isolation, quality analysis prior to genotyping, analysis of reagents for performance, and other related tasks.
- Perform a variety of molecular biological techniques.
- Maintains accurate laboratory notebooks and other documentation.
- Assist in maintaining the laboratory, including ordering supplies and equipment, calibrating instruments, performing preventative maintenance, and assuring a clean and safe environment.
- Follows established SOPs accurately and efficiently, supporting ISO procedures.
- Practice good communication and collaboration with colleagues.
- Perform laboratory cleaning duties.
- Provide input on the best ways to maximize laboratory efficiency.
- Meet individual and departmental goals and objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree (BSc) or diploma from a College or University in a Science discipline.

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word Processing and Microsoft Excel software.

Other Skills and Abilities Ability to maintain high attention to detail in routine tasks. Able to handle high-pressure and short deadlines.
