**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this role, you will:

- Provide strategic advice to senior executives and stakeholders on program and policy files, projects and issues that impact ministry operations and priorities
- Proactively identify and monitor potentially contentious issues and work with the Executive Advisor, divisions and agencies to identify solutions and come to resolutions
- Establish strong relationships with staff and senior management within the ministry, other ministries and stakeholders to support ministry/government priorities, provide input and appropriately represent the office on a spectrum of issues and initiatives
- Plan and carry out a variety of special projects and assignments

**How do I qualify?**:
**Relationship Management and Communication Skills**:

- You can collaborate with senior management and staff to clarify issues and present recommendations to senior executives.
- You have verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and succinctly.
- You can provide strategic feedback on the positioning of a variety of materials including reports, Cabinet submissions, briefing materials and correspondence.
- You have political acuity to develop and manage critical and high-profile stakeholder relationships and to resolve politically sensitive issues.

**Analytical, Research and Issues Management Skills**:

- You have issues management skills to research and assess contentious issues, their impacts and adhere to protocol in making recommendations for approach and strategy.
- You can analyze and think strategically to identify critical issues, gaps and risks as well as make linkages to other relevant issues and initiatives.

**Project Management, Planning and Leadership Skills**:

- You have project management skills to initiate, plan, and carry out a variety of special projects and assignments.
- You have prioritization and organization skills to effectively handle competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- You can foster an inclusive environment to support and strengthen employee engagement and promote innovation and creativity in a team environment.
- You can provide technical guidance to staff.

**Knowledge of Indigenous History and Relevant Issues**:

- You have knowledge and understanding of Indigenous history, culture and relevant issues.
- You have knowledge of the processes of reconciliation and decolonization.

**Government and Business Knowledge**:

- You have knowledge of policy development and legislative processes to provide leadership and coordination on a range of files.
- You have the ability to become familiar with decision-making structures in public sectors.
