Halifax, Canada Nourish Nova Scotia Full time

**About Nourish Nova Scotia**

Nourish Nova Scotia is a registered charity that provides leadership and support to create healthy food environments for young people across Nova Scotia. This means working in close connection with schools and communities to increase access to nutritious and culturally appropriate foods for young people; build knowledge, skills, confidence and connection in relation to food; and enhance school and community-based infrastructure for diverse food & garden programs. Our goal is to support the nutritional well-being of young people and to nurture positive food experiences through experiential learning, connecting with others around food, and spending time in the natural landscapes from which our food comes.

Currently, we are seeking a Coordinator of Fund Development which will be a new and emerging role for the organization. As such, we are looking for someone who can work closely with the Executive Director to build a fund development strategy that will help to outline pathways, processes, and measurable targets related to fund development over the next 1-3 years. As an organization, we are in a moment of change - with a growing set of programs and advocacy initiatives, emerging areas of impact across school & community settings, and a refined focus on working to enhance support and investment in school food programs across Nova Scotia. Over the past ten years, Nourish has worked to establish a network of strong and diverse relationships that continue to shape our emerging initiatives and impact. Now, we are looking for someone to support and steward the organization into its next phase of growth, initiated through a solid fund development plan that can be implemented intentionally and over time.

**About the Role**

The Fund Development Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing fund development strategies that can support two complimentary aims:

- To help raise the profile of Nourish and our impact in schools and communities across Nova Scotia and enhance Nourish’s fundraising capacity by working to engage the board, staff, and volunteers in the development of near and long-term funding pathways and approaches.
- To increase awareness around the need and impact of sustainable funding for School Food Programs across Nova Scotia, with compelling calls to action for businesses, corporations, foundations, and community to connect to and invest in regional and local school food programs.

Across these two focus areas, the role will emphasize the establishment of systems and processes to support donor stewardship and engagement, working with the team and partners to create unique cases for support and calls to action, supporting annual fundraising events & campaigns, and working with the Nourish team and board to identify and measure realistic goals related to fund development.

**Key Responsibilities**

Leadership: Lead the development and execution of a Fund Development Plan with the support of the Executive Director and Nourish staff. Work to establish reasonable goals and targets across different domains of fund development that includes annual giving, major gifts, legacy gifts, and corporate gifts and sponsorship. A core focus will be to work alongside the Executive Director to engage with board members, staff, and volunteers to nurture a culture of philanthropy - creating support, excitement, buy-in, and engagement in the many facets of Nourish’s work alongside diverse partners.

Donor Engagement: Develop strategies for connecting with existing and prospective donors that focus on peer-to-peer and third-party fund development - working to pursue new sources of funding and create unique ways for donors to engage with the organization at key moments throughout the year.

Event & Campaign Coordination: Coordinate the development of seasonal and targeted campaigns and provide support for annual signature events (i.e. Bluenose Charity Marathon) including helping to set targets and supporting volunteer engagement.

Financial Forecasting: With support from the Executive Director, build accurate financial forecasts for the budget year and provide regular reports on progress to date. In connection to this, create and manage effective donor and stewardship pipelines.

Evaluation and Metrics: Implement meaningful fund development targets and metrics that align with the fund development strategy and help to evaluate success related to through regular assessment and reporting.

Donor Recognition & Stewardship: Oversee activities related to donor stewardship including on-going maintenance of a donor database (currently Fundmetric), and administration of donor records including tax receipts and maintaining contact history.

Fund Development Communications: Work with staff to create a range of fund development materials that build unique cases for support (campaign specific and organizational), highlight organizational impact, and create compelling calls to action
