Excavation & Civil Construction Project Manager

Rite Excavation Limited (Rite-X) is an excavation, civil and earthworks company who is seeking an **Excavation Project Manager.**

**The Excavation Project Manager must have substantial knowledge and past experience in excavation and civil construction practices.**

Our Excavation Project Manager will be results-driven individual who will oversee excavation projects from start to finish, while managing project communications and relations with all project stakeholders.
- A deep understanding of excavation processes, along with applicable legislation, codes, and best industry practices.
- **A minimum of 5 years proven experience as a Project Manager in the ICI construction industry, with a minimum of 3 years experience focused on excavation and civil earthworks practices**.

The Excavation Project Manager will be responsible for managing schedules, budgeting, and coordination of all excavation activities, while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with specifications and regulations.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Project Planning & Coordination**:

- Develop detailed excavation and underground service project plans, including timelines, budget estimates, resources, and equipment requirements.
- Coordinate site crews, suppliers, and other project stakeholders to ensure alignment with design and operational goals.
- Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and labour for excavation activities.

**Team Leadership & Supervision**:

- Lead and manage information flow to excavation crew foreman, prime contractors, and subcontractors.
- Assign tasks, setting clear expectations, and ensure workers have the proper training and tools to perform tasks safely and efficiently.

**Site Management**:

- Ensure work is completed according to specifications, quality standards, and applicable building codes.
- Conduct routine inspections to monitor progress, address challenges, and resolve issues that may arise.
- Productivity analysis and planning reviews.
- Maintain attendance at all bi-weekly site meetings.

**Safety & Compliance**:

- Ensure that all excavation activities comply with safety regulations, standards, and company policies.
- Monitor and enforce the use of safety equipment and proper excavation techniques to prevent incidents.
- Perform risk assessments and implement corrective actions to mitigate hazards.

**Budget & Resource Management**:

- Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled within set limits.
- Track and manage project expenditures, negotiate with suppliers, and approve invoicing as required.
- Maintain records of materials, equipment, and labour.
- Prepare and report monthly work in progress reports and costing.

**Client and Stakeholder Communication**:

- Maintain routine communication with clients, contractors, and stakeholders regarding project status, timelines, and potential risk.
- Provide progress updates to Directors and Senior Management.

**Problem Solving**:

- Address and resolve any issues or delays that may arise.
- Implement strategies to overcome challenges while maintaining quality and safety standards.

**REQUIRED COMPENTENCIES AND ATTRIBUTES**
- **A**minimum of 5 years proven experience as a Project Manager in the ICI construction industry, with a minimum of 3 years experience focused on excavation and civil earthworks practices*.
- Strong understanding of excavation processes, equipment, and safety regulations.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of local, provincial, and federal regulations regarding excavation practices and construction projects.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, in English.Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with advanced organizational and administrative skills.
- Able to carefully review plans, contracts and schedules to ensure accuracy and quality.
- The ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in project management software (Procore) and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to pass security screening/checks with various authorities.

**PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- PMP Certification (or similar).
- Experience with environmental considerations and compliance with excavation practices.
