Job Summary
The Marketing & Communications Assistant will assist in the supporting Athletics & Recreation initiatives such as game day marketing, sport communications, sponsorship activations, logistics planning, recreation media updates and other social posting. This role will assist in scheduling webcasts for events, provide social media coverage, track digital content, write game recaps and feature stories. The Assistant will also contribute to production and development of publications, guides, media notes, signage, etc.
This position provides administrative support to implement marketing and communications initiatives and activities. This position creates routine marketing materials, performs website content updates and assists with the development of other promotional materials.
**Job Description**:
What you will do:
- Provides administrative support to the faculty marketing and communication team such as photography and videography, routine marketing materials, and website content updates.
- Assists with the development and implementation of digital and print materials.
- Assists with promotional projects and campaign strategies to increase awareness of programs and initiatives.
- Provides information regarding the use of various website and multimedia tools.
- Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.
Required Education:
- One-Year Post Secondary Certificate or Diploma.
- in communications preferred.
Required Experience:
- More than 6 months and up to and including 1 year of experience.
- Experience developing, coordinating and producing promotional and marketing material considered an asset.
- Experience in graphic design and production with a familiarity of graphic/multi-media design tools and technologies considered an asset (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, ProTools, AfterEffects, etc.).
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Knowledge and Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of standardized, work procedures, general facts, or the use of simple equipment that is typically acquired through on the job training.
- Provide clear, concise information to others that requires basic courtesy and mínimal explanation or interpretation.
- Ability to relay unwelcome information or deal with minor conflicts/complaints.
- Prioritize own work to deliver objectives on time and to meet standards and expectations.
- Follows direction and seeks clarification when required.
- Resolve recurring problems and situations using established procedures and guidelines.
- Bring forward problems, obstacles or challenges to work completion in a timely manner so deadlines continue to be met.
- Awareness of human rights, diversity, equity, Indigenization and inclusion.
- Understand university specific processes and policies to address human rights or equity concerns.
