**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
The Field Staff, Restoration & Infrastructure performs a variety of field work activities which support environmental projects and programs delivered by the Erosion Risk Management, Restoration and Resource Management, Construction Services or Professional Services teams.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Ensures that quality control and assurance measures are followed at all steps of the work process.
- Assists with the transportation of materials to and from sites as required.
- Participates in the daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning.
- Assists with maintenance of equipment and vehicles, performs circle and other health and safety checks. Reports potential maintenance requirements to supervisor.
- Maintains equipment (storage, organization, minor repairs.
- Ongoing attention of surroundings to ensure safe work practices.
- Collects field level data collection using various survey tools and methods to ensure accurate data is then transferred into a drafting/design ready state.
- Assists Survey team with topographic surveys, layouts, and elevations on all assigned projects.
- In the field, assists with survey calculations, including back-sites, grades, elevations, angles, coordinates and coordinate systems.
- Operates appropriate equipment required to execute work duties related to specific project/program area (i.e., Total Station with data collector, Global Positioning System (GPS) handheld, RTK GPS, levels, hydrographic equipment etc.)
**What will you need to succeed**:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
- Minimum pursuing a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field.
- Valid Class G2 Driver’s License.
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Certification.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Familiar with basic equipment and power tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues.
- Proficiency in MS Office for general office communications (I.e., mail, spreadsheet and word processing software, including online enablement software such as MS teams and SharePoint).
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, related Regulations and legislation.
- Understanding of engineering, survey and geomorphology processes and terminology.
- Working knowledge of GPS, Autocad, Civil 3D and Total Station. Understanding of hydrographic sounding and other technology for the purposes of data collection and data processing.
