**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
The Junior Field Technician is responsible for providing support to the preservation and protection of cultural heritage resources within Toronto and Region Conservation Authority lands. This position participates in archaeological field assessments and collections management activities relating to artifact and field documentation processing and storage.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Conduct Stage 2 through Stage 4 archaeological fieldwork under the direction of the field supervisor and in compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists (MTCS 2011).
- Assist with field equipment inventories and maintenance as required.
- Assist with laboratory tasks.
- Assist with general field documentation tasks.
- Attend / participates in public education and outreach as required.
- Supervise and assist with students at the Boyd Archaeological Field School.
- Provide direction and assistance to students on appropriate archaeological field methods, mapping, and field documentation.
- Supervise student field work.
**What will you need to succeed**:
- Actively pursuing post-secondary education in Archaeology or related discipline.
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Screening may be required.
- Successful completion of an archaeological field school and/or minimum one season of archaeology related field experience in Ontario.
- Ability to perform physical activities under adverse weather conditions that includes standing, walking and using a shovel throughout the day and carrying up to 25kg of equipment.
- Ability to identify artifacts related to southern Ontario.
- Ability to work in a team environment with multiple objectives and tight deadlines.
