**Summer Student Communications and Admin Support**:
**Contract Position**:
**(12 week contract)**:
You can make a difference in the lives of adults with disabilities and seniors who have chosen to maintain their independence by living in their own homes with pride and dignity. Guelph Independent Living (GIL) is a non-profit organization providing personal support services to people where they live for more than 40 years.

**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Summer Student Communications and Admin Support position will assist with several administration tasks. Duties may include:

- Assist the Communications & Privacy Officer in creating a Communications Plan and Policy
- Assist in developing and preparing digital communication tools
- including photo galleries and videos for GIL's communication channels
- Provide weekly data analysis reports for digital and social engagement
- Reviewing and revising of documents, manuals and reports
- Assist the Property Coordinator with filing and organization
- Assisting with special and leisure events
- Other administrative tasks including filing and copying

**Qualifications**:

- Working towards a post-secondary diploma or degree in Communications, Marketing, or Administration
- Previous experience in an administrative setting is an asset
- Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Be able to follow direction, as well as work independently and take initiative
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)

**As per the guidelines of the Government of Canada's Canada Summer Jobs Program, to be eligible, the student must**:

- Be available to work from May to August 2018
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the _Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;_ and,
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial and territorial legislation and regulations.

This position is 30 hours per week.

**Start date**: May 28, 2018

**Closing**: 8:30 am Monday April 30, 2018
