**Purpose**:
The Social Worker will work as part of an interdisciplinary team comprised of RN’s, Physicians, allied health professionals and Child Life Counsellors. The Social Worker would provide support for inpatients and families from the pediatrics, Neonatal ICU and Birthing Center. In particular, the Social Worker would support program development, provide clinical assessments, treatment planning, family interventions and education, and referrals to community agencies to support patients and their families. The social worker will work collaboratively with the Child Protection Agencies to work towards the best interests of patients and families.

**Education and Training**:

- Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work required.
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required

**Experience**:

- Minimum of five (5) years related clinical experience.
- Must have extensive experience working with children and families.
- Experience working with diverse cultural populations.

**Knowledge/ Skills/Ability**:

- Knowledge of the Regulated Health Professionals Act and the Family and Child Legislation.
- Therapeutic patient teaching and communication skills with adults and children
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, as well as being able to work independently in a fast pace environment with challenging clients and families.

**Personal Suitability**:

- Demonstrated positive work record and good attendance record.
- Valid driver’s license and must be able to provide own transportation.
- Criminal Reference Check is required
