5 Star Paving is currently looking for experienced **Heavy Equipment Operators** to join our growing team in the Site Works division.

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment and may be placed in one or all divisions depending on specialization, contextual demand, and/or preference. Heavy equipment operators benefit from natural job rotation and partake in a wide variety of on-site assignments which are essential to project completion. The hours of work will consistently range from 40 to 50 hours per week, (7 am-5 pm) depending on the contract and timeline—overtime, weekends and/or evenings also may be required.

**_Earthworks_**: Bulk, Strip, Footing, Trench, and Topsoil Excavation -Ditching, Backfill, Grading, Hauling.
- **Site Servicing** - _Storm and Sanitary Connection/Installation, Watermain, and Roadworks - Including Asphalt, Curb and Gutter, Sidewalk.

**Responsibilities**:
Heavy equipment operators at 5 Star Paving will engage with tasks such as:

- Inspect heavy equipment prior to use to ensure that mechanical and safety systems are in good working order
- Operate heavy equipment such as **Excavators, Dozers, Loaders and backhoe** to excavate and load gravel, concrete, asphalt, or dirt
- Communicate defects or unsafe conditions to supervisor in a timely manner to facilitate prompt correction
- Understand and follow the approved plan for the current construction project
- Park the equipment in a safe manner when not in use
- Fill out and understand an equipment and duty log-book

**Skills and Training**:

- Reliable transportation, such as a G-license
- Experience within the industry
- Understanding of grades
- Strong mechanical knowledge
- Must have their own safety footwear
- A keen awareness of safety protocol
- Ability to run various equipment
- Possess a valid or be willing to obtain the following certifications: WHIMIS, Elevated/Aerial Work Platform, Working at Heights/Fall Arrest, First Aid

Pay: $33.00-$38.00 per hour
